Motions and Nominations

To submit a motion, nominate CAC or NPF delegates, or make a nomination for the Keir Hardie awards, please see the relevant section below.


Contemporary Motions

Contemporary Motions allow CLPs and Affiliated Organisations to address issues which could not otherwise have been raised through this year’s policy process. Each CLP and Affiliated Organisation may submit one motion.

Motions should not exceed 250 words. The closing date for submissions is 12 noon on Monday 25 February 2019.

Emergency Motions

Emergency Motions allow CLPs and Affiliated Organisations to address issues which occur after the deadline for Contemporary Motions. Each CLP and Affiliated Organisation may submit one motion.

Motions should not exceed 250 words. The closing date for submissions is 12 noon on Thursday 7 March 2019.

Conference Arrangements Committee (CAC)

Each CLP and Affiliated Organisation may nominate one delegate for a seat on the CAC. No person shall be eligible for the CAC if they are a member of the Scottish Executive Committee.

The closing date for nominations is 12 noon on Monday 18 February 2019.

National Policy Forum (NPF)

There are two places on the NPF (Div iii) to be elected, one of which must be a woman. Each CLP and Affiliated Organisation can make one nomination.

Motions should not exceed 250 words. The closing date for nominations is 12 noon on Monday 18 February 2019.

Keir Hardie Awards

Each CLP and Affiliated Organisation is invited to make nominations for best practice. The categories are:

  • outstanding campaigner
  • campaign innovation
  • community engagement
  • membership engagement and development
  • CLP of the year
  • workplace engagement/working with trade unions

A 100 word nomination statement should be submitted. The closing date for nominations is 12 noon on Monday 18 February 2019.
