Scottish Labour – supporting our communities against COVID-19
The COVID-19 virus is impacting on the lives of everyone in Scotland, and Scottish Labour is playing a huge part in the response in communities in every part of the country.
Here are just a few of the things we are doing:
We have pushed the Scottish Government to announce a six-month ban on evictions – read about it here
Despite that success, we still need the government to commit to rent breaks, so if you haven’t signed our petition, please do that here
In North Lanarkshire, parents of children who receive free school meals are receiving food vouchers – read about it here
In North Ayrshire, the Labour council has been delivering supplies of ingredients, along with recipes, to those families in most need –find out more here
North Aryrshire, is also offering a payments holiday on council tax – you can read about it here
In Fife, which is co-led by David Ross, who leads COSLA’s Labour group, is helping residents with council tax and rent payments – you can read about it here
Inverclyde’s Labour Council has been distributing food parcels to families in need – you can read about it here
Midlothian council, meanwhile, has mobilised an army of public service workers and volunteers to protect vulnerable people and support frontline workers at this challenging time, under the #Kindness@Midlothian banner – you can find out more here
