Labour’s plans to double paid paternity leave would benefit up to 18,000 families in Scotland, according to new figures released by Richard Leonard for Father’s Day.
The next UK Labour Government would double paid paternity leave to four weeks and increase paternity pay.
It was Labour in Government in 2003 which introduced statutory paid paternity leave, and it will be Labour in Government who will extend it.
Fathers should have the right to spend more time with their new born babies, and to support their families.
Our plan to double paternity leave from two to four weeks and increase paternity pay would benefit up to 18,000 families in Scotland, and lead to greater equality in the workplace.
That’s the real change Labour can deliver for working families in Scotland and across the UK.
