Labour will end rough sleeping.

9th October 2018

Horrifying new figures have revealed that almost two people a week died while homeless in Scotland last year.

The last Labour government set world leading targets on homelessness, but since then the SNP has slashed £1.5 billion from local budgets, hammering the social work and housing services that support vulnerable people. These cuts need to end.

The SNP government could also consider a ban on winter evictions, a move Richard Leonard raised earlier this year at First Minister’s Questions.

The next Labour government will ensure our councils have the resources they need to support vulnerable people, and reform the housing system to make it work for the many, not just the privileged few.
